Between 12 and 18 months parents may begin to notice their child favoring one color over another or sorting toys or blocks based on color on their own. At this age child have become aware that there are different colors. Use the printable below to work on color sorting with your child at home. Find multiple different objects of the six colors and work with your child on putting them in the correct color triangle. For the younger children, they can pick up objects using their hands, for the older children try tongs, this helps with working their fine motor skills.

The caterpillars have entered the chrysalis stage of metamorphosis. In 7-10 days they will be butterflies.  During the chrysalis stage the caterpillar will attach themselves to the lids of the caterpillar cups. After a few days take the lid off carefully and place it in the log holder provided in the kit to get a closer look.

For an alphabet scavenger hunt children can go around the house and find things that start with the different letters of the alphabet or they can use this outside and find those letters in addresses or on street signs. I've included numbers at the bottom for extra fun!

Capturing your child's milestones can be challenging at times but Kids Step Stone Kits are a great way of remembering them. These can be used for anything, Did you child take their first steps? Did your child talk for the first time? Did they write their name? Did they graduate from preschool? Maybe it is not one of the thing listed but everyday our children grow and do something that they have not done the day before, here is a way to remember!

Teaching children about farm animals can be so much fun! Pick an animal and then have them move their body like that animal would. Gallop like a horse or roll around in the mud like a pig. The same can be done with the noises they make. Pick up a sheep and have them "baa" or find a cow and "moo".
