This is a fun way to practice numbers and colors with your preschooler. Have your child drive in and park in the number that you have selected. You can also work on colors and ask your child to drive a "blue" car in and park it in spot "3" This is a great activity for fine motor skills and letter & color recognition.
*Need a parking lot? Try a shallow cardboard box or draw one. Images can also be found free to print online!

Bring science into your home and have some fun with your children by creating a sprout house. This activity works best with fast sprouting seeds. For this project I choose green beans, my children's favorite vegetable, but there are other options out there. We started by soaking our seeds in a cup of water overnight, this is not required but is an old farmers trick to speed up germination. Next wet a paper towel and squeeze out any extra water. Lay the paper towel on a flat surface and place a few seeds a couple of inches apart. Next fold the other end of the paper towel over top and carefully place in the bag. Seal the bag and hang in a window with direct sunlight.
Before hanging the bag in the window you can have your children make a house or you the printable below. For our project we made them ourselves to work on cutting and shapes. Watch your sprout houses over the next few weeks and talk about what happening with your children. In a few weeks your child will be able to plant their plant outside. Check back to see how our beans are doing. Learning about the life cycle of a butterfly is one of the most magical transformations, and it is amazing for kids to witness and learn about with live caterpillars. Butterfly kits have everything you need to raise a group of butterflies, they have smaller kits for families and large kits for classrooms. Caterpillars will arrive in a cup, see picture above, the cup will be their home until they make a chrysalis. Preschoolers will enjoy watching the caterpillars move around their cup and eat the food. Included below are a few activities that you can do at home with your children.
